Two things I did not imagine I would buy

Like this cute duck I saw, which will make a great birthday present for someone later this year. (That is a tip from my side, if you find something you imagine someone close would love, buy it now, even if their birthday are in 11 months time.)

And this lovely vintage dress I found. It did fit both me and bump, and it will have it’s premier use tomorrow. Until then it is hanging on the wall above my bed, where I can look at it every morning.

Babies are a natural part of life!

You can not take your baby with you too the University. That was the answer I got when I told my school that I am pregnant and my living situation has changed.  No questions asked, no way of being flexible towards my studying and my baby. Just shut doors. I got told that in January, but since then I have been paralyzed with shock and have not done anything about it at all. I did not even reply to the mail I got, just kept it out of my mind. But it has been there, nagging in the back of my head, and a few days ago I decided that I will not accept this!

I should not be denied an education just because I am (soon) a mother. And my baby should not be denied it’s right to be with it’s mother. My school is doing both of these things to me, and that really is killing my study motivation. Unfortunally, not even people around me seem to understand my point of view. Several of them asked if I can’t just instead take maternity leave, but why should I? I want to finish my studies now and not in ten years, it would be for the best, both for me and my family.

I am proud over my bump!

Adam chose my new pair of shoes

New pair of shoes, which Adam helped me too choose. Is it not good to have a husband with good taste? I can see myself wear these all the time during spring, with knee socks and dresses and holding ice creams in hand. We will have a good relationship, these shoes and I.

Saturday, oh Saturday

Hello all again!

Absent again, but not because of sadness, more of being occupied with lots and lots of things to do. Do not fear though, I documented my entire weekend with this little wonderful thing called camera on my phone. What did we do before that was invented?

So, let’s start off with saturday, which involved a party meeting and a party.

Bild

At seven in the morning, I prepared myself a steady breakfast, for a long day. Lots of fruit, like blackberry juice, lemon tea, muesli with fruit and nuts and bread with orange marmalade, my new favorite spread. I eat it every day at the moment! As I was late, I did not get time for any outfit photos though.

Lots of politics was on the schedule, I was in meeting from early morning to late afternoon at the beautiful place known as Hemgården, here in Norrköping. First we had an interesting seminaries about master supression techniques, then the new guide lines for next year was drawn up. As I did not feel to photo so much of the meeting itself, I took the more photos of Hemgårdens beautiful garden. Oh and one of my friends got elected as vice president of this region. Congratulations to him!

BildI did spend most of my time in the garden on the breaks. It was really beautiful and such a nice surprise to find this in Norrköping. Always fun to meet new places in your home town. After the meeting I went home, in order to rest a little for the evenings party. Being pregnant is heavy sometimes. I have gained 10 kilos! In between the meeting and the party though I found a pram, cheap and in nice condition, so I ran to buy it with Adam. Now our little sprog has something to lie in when he/she comes.

Is it not lovely?

The old lady who sold it too us even gave us discount as she thought we were cute. Hehe, that is some lovely story to share to the little when it’s older. :)

Home again, I started to prepare for the Spring party. Lots and lots of flowers got put into my hair, which ended with a pony tail. Then at 10 in the evening I said good bye to Adam and had lots of fun on my old work place. So I miss it there!

As the light where so bad though (this one of me above was the best one) photographing was hard. But I did enjoy it a lot, danced and laughed and got asked fun questions from strangers. And that was my Saturday.

Good Bye Quila

Hello all! I have been absent as I been sad this last days. My lovely dog Quila got an other new home yesterday, as she really do not like babies and it has been hard to leave her away. I miss my little dog which I had since puppy, but both for her best and mine, I had to choose giving her away. It sucks, but I had too. She really do not realise that small humans are not big, but small, which is not good in terms of a baby. Hard to choose, but…I do not really what to say, but that I will miss her, and I hope that her new owners are the kindest persons ever that give her just as much love as I have done.

I asked them to keep in contact with me, so I can hear about her progress, and maybe I can go visit her  as the new owners do not live that far away. Damn how hard this is, but I know I had chosen the best of owners to her. Else I would not let her go. Quila little, you been one of the best dogs I ever had, and you are going to be missed.

Today I have stuffed myself full with things to do, like the annually party meeting and other stuff, all in order to cheer myself up and not break together in tears. I hope it will work. Good bye for now.

5 things that belongs to Spring!

I realised when I went through my old blog posts that I have not written a “5-things”-post for a while. I really have not had a topic to write about for some time, no red thread during one day. I am curious in how the other bloggers out there can find enough inspiration to blog every single day of their life, must it not be hard? If you blog, I am extremely curious in how you do to find that thing that makes you sit down by the computer and write your heart out to the rest of the world. What makes you want to blog?

Oki, back to subject (after having some kissing with Adam, best interruption ever). Today I wanted to write about 5 things that have happened today, and for the first time in a long time, the subject was so easy. It is spring time, my favorite season of the year and without noticing it, a lot of the things I think belongs to spring are here. Woohoo!

So, without further ado, here is my spring list.

1. Student Union Election is Here! After my lesson today, I ran, penguin style, to the election square in order to see how the new candidate list looked like. I was tired when the photo was taken and had unwashed hair, but it doesn’t show in the photo. Phew! One less thing to worry about. Also had some fun talk with the other candidates standing there and got some free sweets. Kind of them! I look forward to two fun weeks with them!

(For your information, by purpose I have chosen not to show my political work on this blog, but as it is a big part of my life, I changed my mind about it. This will give you a more detailed image about me.)

2. Spring is inside my home now. Just as the outside world is waking up after a long winter sleep, my home starts to look less like a winter storm and instead is blossoming with flowers here and there. The flower above is from my mother-in-law, and it is now growing happily in the living room window.

3. Spring Party! My friends and I are going to the school’s Spring Party this Saturday, and I’m really looking forward to it. The theme is Flowers and Bees, it’ll will be fun to see what I come up with for that.

4. My birthday. I am born in Spring, so of course I look forward to all lovely presents and cards and congratulations I get  in spring time. This birthday card, made by Adam’s younger sister, arrived today by mail, a few weeks late, but I do not mind that. I am so amazed that she managed to capture some of my favorite things (dachshunds, tulips, owls) on it. So, I want to say, thank you Cara for the lovely card.

5. Books you can read outside in the sunshine. A very important thing that you can enjoy in spring time, is actually sitting outdoors, in the sunshine, reading your favorite book, listen to your favorite music, and drink nice drinks all day long. Ah, the joy of that is truely amazing!

So, now after reading my list, I suggest you go out in the nice sunshine and enjoy it while it lasts. If it doesn’t shine, listen to the song linked below and remember to let the sun shine.

My favorite things

This day has been LOUSY, with big capital letters. It is no particular reason to this lousiness, I just sometimes wake up and feel that everything is going to hell, people are mean and that nothing I do will make it better. This normally go over after a few hours, but it those first dark minutes that is horrible. I am normally a happy person, but just as everyone I do have sadness in me to.  In order to prevent this, I focus on the sunbeams in my life, colour, fun clothes (like my huge collection of knee socks), cute puppies and birds, sunshine and rain on the same time which creates rainbows all over the sky, family, friends and lots of tulips in the windows, and music. Adam also is a great source of happiness, when he came into my life, it all changed toward the better.

What comes first, more then everything, is my child. He/she is not born yet, but already have caused me much happiness. It’s little kicks, that it hates anything to be put on my stomach, all of those outbursts of personality gives me joy. I am amazed that such a tiny person can affect me in so many different ways. And that was what made my sadness go away today.

Breakfast, Mothering Saturday, tea and cake & dinner and a movie

Yesterday started out in the best of ways with a sleep in to 10! Luxury times for a student. Then I had my favorite breakfast with yogurt, muesli and lots of fruit. The best part was that we still had some frozen raspberries left. This was needed as I was going to have a busy day with Adam and his mother. After a quick walk with the dogs, we were on our way.

First stop was a book shop, as it is Mothering Sunday in England this weekend, and Adam wanted to buy a gift. Then we carried on to Café Kuriosa, and had a little celebration/good bye-fika, as it was soon time for Adam’s mum Rachel to travel back to London.

Café Kuriosa is one of these crowded small cafes which is filled with vintage finds, old furniture and pretty stuff. Plus  the occasional cake and delicious drink. We were here for at least an hour, talking and taking lots of photos of the interior in there. Norrköping has it’s fair share of old cute cafés, so if you like that sort of thing, you should pay this town a visit.

After photoing everything in there, we went home so Rachel could pack and go home. It was a good visit we had. Hopefully next time, we can go to London.

After a little rest in our flat, Adam and I went out dog walking and grocery shopping, the normal errands. Also a little Saturday treat came with us home, and we enjoyed it on a bench not far from home. The boxes from Godiskungen are really cute I thought, I like the new design on them. I also took some photos to practice, as I love the yellow house in the background. If it is ever for sale, I want to buy it.

Home again  and I made dinner, and this dish was easy to do, just as I like it. Boil some pasta and fry some bacon (organic of course) in the oven and then mix it with beans and rucola and you get a cheap, tasty and filling meal.

The day ended with that Adam introduced me to the Marx Brothers film Monkey Business. It was sometimes hilarious and sometimes I did not really get the jokes. Probably because I do not get all English phrases yet. It was although a good ending on a good day.

Crumpets

One of my favorite things in the English kitchen are Crumpets.  Soft, warm and oh so tasty bread which is good with butter and maybe jams of different kinds. Unfortunally, I have not yet found these in Sweden, so they are being eaten as soon I am in London. As I also have frequent visitors from England, I always ask if they can bring me a package or two, and I have a small feast on this lovely little food. Here served on proper English plates!

Super Sweet

I have been working a lot lately, from early morning to late evening and it probably has been noticed here in the blog. But today is the last day of 06.00 to LATE -days and I did cheer myself up with soda and some super sweet sweets, to celebrate that I got some free time soon.

On my spare hours (like lunch), me and Adam have been going around in the second hand shops, trying to find new ideas for our home as we are changing it from something I like to something we both like. A big project, but it is working. I for example like the chairs on the top photo, but Adam is a little more skeptic to that. What is your thoughts about pastel chairs?

Today my mother-in-law will come too, it is always nice to get a doze of Englishness in the house. I hope that I can visit London again this summer, but we will see, with the new baby coming and all.
