Sort of a Honeymoon

Hello everyone!

I am back home from England with an feverish cold, but it was worth it, being with my husband again. We have not meet each other since our wedding in the beginning of the summer, so I guess you can say that this trip was our honeymoon in a way. That is what we atleast called it, after going vintage and umbrella shopping, listening to tons of music, eating lots of cake, watching old Buster Keaton movies, talked, took lots of photos (atleast I did, after deleting a lot I still got 251 photos to go through) and just enjoyed to be with each other. He really is my best friend and beloved in the same person and I am so lucky to have him in my life. And in 3 weeks we are finally going to live together, after years in seperate countries!

I will just post one photo today, as a sneak peak of what I have been doing the last 10 days. Unedited and with a crappy digital camera, but still, it is one of the my favorite photos of all time. The rest of my photos will come up when I feel better.

Dresses: Star dress is from Retro Clothing in London. The geometrical dress is from Monki.

Leggings: HM

Socks: HM

Wellies: Everest

Not much fashion talk today, but I promise that it will come later. Have a continued great evening everyone.

Loving that Pattern: Oki, no idea what this pattern is called. Help?!

Hello everyone in the world! This is the last outfit post I made before I left Sweden, and it will show a few days before I will get home. Hopefully I have tons of photos to share with you guys also.  In my head, this outfit is known as “a walk on the beach” but the surroundings are so wrong. I do live by the sea, but we have a huge lack of beaches here. Everything is harbours and boats, no sandy beaches.

More photos of my pattern madness at the moment. The dominating part of this is my skirt-dress, with a big pattern (what is it called though? Any idea?) and extremely many details. If I wear it as a dress, it has buttons and bows together with this pattern and it really is quite messy itself. But sure, you get noticed from far away.

I am experimenting a little both with the poses and the light. Not so found of this photo though. I added a calm apricot coloured vest to this messy skirt, in order to make it less messy, and I thought it worked. I added bronze coloured accessories also, to make it even more calm.

Skirt: HM

Vest: HM

Necklace: Indiska

Bracelet: Local market

I guess, this one is also my last of the pattern-series. It was not a long one, but I honestly don’t own any more clothes with patterns on. You have now seen it all! But I promise, if I ever buy more clothes like that, I will make a new post in this series. I hope you did enjoy it anyway.

Loving that Pattern: Dots

This outfit, I thought would be the easiest as I did believe I have tons of clothes with dots on. Turns out, my tons of clothes was all underwear and/or accessories. So I took a scarf and a maxi skirt and voila, I have a dotted dress. Bonus point for it looking so pastelly.

Dress: Skirt from Rio and don’t remember where the scarf comes from.

Ring: Shop Beau Monstre

Shoes: Second hand

Hairband: HM

As I am an environmental scientist to be, reusing old clothes you have in the closet is something I truely enjoy. I try to look on clothes as raw material, I can work with them all I want, sewing them, changing them, and changing back, instead of having clothes that is like a ready-to-be-served dish. Maybe, in the end, I will combine my knowledge about the environment, and recreate (recreate, not remake!) clothes I find.

Oh, I am so tired now, been making lots of posts, and a few more is coming. When this post will show in the blog, I have left London and are on the festival area. I will be back home again the 31st!

Loving that Pattern: Animalprints

When this is posting, I am on my way to dear old London and my lovely lovely husband! Yey! I am so glad. We have planned lots of things to do, like going to Absolute Vintage and other places like that. I will also be one week on a festival, which is why I make posts beforehand. I don’t think they have good internet connections  at that field.

So here are my photos of my animalprints outfit. The reason why is I only had 2 pieces with animalprints, a zebra striped skirt and a purple leopard dotted vest. I could just have used any other pattern, but I so wanted these garments in the series, so here it is. I tried to pull it together with an owl necklace and a bag with an polar bear print on, to make the animal theme complete.

Vest: HM

Skirt: HM

Tights: HM

Bag: Tiger in London, gift

Bracelet: KappAhl

Necklace: Shop by Alexandra

The necklace I bought, was a disappointment as it was broken when I got it. Luckily I could fix it easily, but it is always boring to get broken things. I realised many of my clothes comes from HM, I could fit into their catalogue right away. The bag is a birthday gift from my husband, I believe it is from the Tiger store in London, but I am not sure. As I am in London, I will check that!

Double coloured nails

Sorry for this bad photographing, but I am really stressed at the moment with me leaving on thursday and my brother having is birthday today (He is getting 12, oh getting so big now!). Been doing ten tons of things, all to make everything go smoothly with my dogs and all my things in Sweden while I am in England. I also been making a few blog posts to cheer you up while I am gone,as I will  not do much blogging without an internet connection.

As I am into a pattern at the moment, I tried to make patterns on my nails also. Nothing advanced, even if kiwi nails was so tempting to try. Instead, I used two colours on each nail, blue-purple on the left hand and black-redish purple on the right, creating two boxes of colours on each hand. After I put it on, I noticed that I had put Depend nailpolishes together on the left hand and Viva la Diva one’s together on the other. That means I did get a good chance to see which brand is best of the two and I got to say Viva la Diva wins. I only had them on a few hours, but the Depend nailpolishes is already vanishing. Bah!

Right hand. Viva la Diva nailpolishes number 20 and 53.

Good nailpolish and it last forever! If you put two layers on the nails, these can look good for almost a week! Love Viva la Diva!

Left hand. Depend Nailpolishes number 41 and 149.

As you can see, the Depend nailpolish is already getting destroyed. I took this photo 10 minutes after I painted them. Now, a few hours laters, they look horrible. They look nice, but really, don’t buy Depend ever. It is throwing the money in the lake!

Loving that pattern: Stripes

Oki, this is the first post of my pattern series, which I talked about earlier. It was way harder then I expected, as I had so little clothes with pattern one’s. My wardrobe is taking up space in 3 closests, and I only have around 15 clothes with diffrent patterns on. Hmm, I guess I love colourblocking more then I realised.

To really appreciate the diffrent patterns, and give myself a little more of a challenge, I made up a few simple rules:

1) Only use the clothes you got in your closet. Do not borrow or buy new clothes for this challenge.

2) One or two patterns has to be dominating.

3) You can use other garments (without patterns) in order to make an outfit. But they shall not be dominating it.

Easy rules I thought, I can pull it off, and it was funny taking all of the photos.  I started this challenge with my most dominating pattern, stripes. The clothes really made me look young, a guy in the store actually asked were my mum was and if I should use my money to buy candy. I was to tired to explain to him that I am 21 years old and it is just natural in my family to look like children for most of our adulthood.  Bah, sometimes DNA can be a pain. But I probably would be an excellent Lolita girl.

Vest: Saints and Mortals

Skirt: HM

Cardigan: Monki

Socks: Don’t remember

Wellies: Everest

Despite the childishness around this outfit, I liked it. It is an excellent outfit to wear when your out in the country on a rainy day, as it is very comfortable and no one would mistake you for a moose.

A monument slowly raised, like a coral reef

The train station in Eskilstuna is actually really beautiful, if you lift your eyes and try to see. For me, it is somewhat of a monument over my teenagehood. Here I runned all the way from school just to meet an artist I liked, I have meet love from friends and family among its coral walls and the floors has absorbed my tears when my heart got broken for the first time. Bitter sweet memories attached to it, and I made this outfit specially for this building.

Day trip to Eskilstuna

Hello everyone!

I am back home from an lovely day trip to my old hometown Eskilstuna, where I did meet one of my best friends Emelie and her lovely 2 months old son. It was such a fun and interesting day, we talked for hours to catch up on what we missed during a cup of afternoon tea.

                                                Emelie.

We have not seen each other since my birthday in March, which is a shame, but you know, life and that is taking up much time. We are both very active in our respective schools (she is studying to become a teacher) and of course, her baby takes up alot of time.

                                               Mother and son.

Alot of what we talked about did of course involve her son. She is the first person among the people I hang out with that has a baby, so many many people talk about him. Other subject was school, our families and just normal catching up on what is happening in both of our lives.

                                                    Street Artist.

After our 3 hour long tea drinking/girl chatting moment, we walked around the streets so I could get a little nostaligic kick (Eskilstuna is after all the town where I spent my late teenagehood in) and we also looked at one of the skilled street artist which you can see here in the summers.

                                                  Admiring her sandals

Emelie likes clothes, almost as much as I do and one subject we do talk alot about is the recent things we bought (and also the fact we have similar purple bags which we both use ALOT). Her latest find was those lovely sandals seen on this photo, according to her they were comfortable and perfect for the summer.

                                               Eskilstuna train station

My outfit of the day involves this building, but I will post it in a seperate post.

Back in Norrköping, I went to a concert (this line you will get used to) with Petter and a dinosaur on the roof. As you can see on the umbrellas, it was raining and cold, but I danced the heat in me! Great concert!

It was a good day, with lots of fun. And now it will not go months before I see my friend again as her sons baptism is in August. Looking forward to it!

Love Madeleine

Colourblock me

Oki, I have basically skipped this colourblock trend that was so big this spring because I was so bored about it. During big parts of my teenage hood, I have been wearing one coloured pieces together, without any patterns at all and it is still noticed in my closet today. So I have decided that soon, I will show you guys how much I actually appreciate the few items I have in my closet that got patterns, by wearing one pattern as a theme that day. Sounds like a good series?

Todays outfit was actually not what I intended to do. I tried to go for pastel, but when I was done, it felt so much not me, so I instead when the other direction and picked out this extremely colourful clothes in yellow and coral. I added a belt in green, a red bag and the colourblocking was almost complete. As I don’t own any colourful shoes, I just took my glittery dreams and added the new ring I bought. The end result? I love it, it is me, but also, way to safe, I am in my comfort zon.

Shirt: HM

Skirt: GinaTricot, actually a shirt

Belt: No brand

Ring: Shop Beau Monstre

Bag: No brand

Shoes: Second hand

This pattern series I am making is for me a trying to break out of my comfort zone. I am sure, many of you have their standard outfits and this is my own. But I wonder, what do you do in order to get out of your “normal” outfits, how is it working for you to try something diffrent?

I feel the summer in me!

Finally, it’s not a day late. Been so stressed out lately but this past weekend made miracles for me, feeling the summer in me. Today, I just have been around my house, listening to nostaligic summery music, painting, cleaning and enjoyed that I finally felt relaxed. This outfit is in my opinion, my most summery one, with my wedges and that blue picknick dress. Perfect for a day like this!

Dress: Gina Tricot

Wedges: Second hand

Sunglasses: Second hand

Belt: Vintage, Handed down

Necklace: Made by me

The necklace I made is actually from a crushed flower pot. At first, I was thinking of making it square shaped, but after been working on it for 10 minutes, I changed my mind and just kept it like it is, creating a more organic effect on it. The sunnies is many peoples hate object. But I don’t care, I love them to death as they are so unusual.

I really had an amazing day. I hope all of you got that summer feeling in you! Soon I will go to London and have even more summer and vacation. Wii!
